I told Aki that the next-summer's-family-vacation pennies we're saving need to go toward a trip north to Boise, then on west to Seattle and Portland. We would love to see our aunties/cousins and other friends who live in these areas.
On Memorial Day, the Staleys took me to a very important place: the Tillamook cheese factory. We ate free samples, browsed the gift store, had a picnic lunch, followed by delicious Tillamook ice cream cones (I got 2 scoops: Peaches-n-cream and Marionberry Pie). We then headed to the coast for an afternoon on the beach, and afterward did a bit of evening shopping at an outlet mall.
And before I boarded the plane the next day, Stormy and I went to Babies 'R' Us for her to get some last minute things (and for me to register just for the fun of it). We then had a girls lunch at the OG--without husbands or kids. That hasn't happened in a loooooong time.
In the end, when I returned home, I was so glad to see Aki, Makai, and Ame. I thought my heart would burst when I saw the two little ones running toward me with screams of "Mama!" and huge smiles on their faces. I was gone too long--it's hard to take an "all-by-myself" vacation and fully enjoy it when your heart is missing the loves of your life.
Of course, within 10 minutes, the kids were back to telling me they didn't like me because I wouldn't buy them an ice cream at 10:00 PM. Welcome home.

Looks like you had a blast. Glad you had some time to experience the Northwest. Great Pics!
Lindy, you didn't tell me you went to Powell's too. Isn't that the best bookstore ever? It would be so fun for us to go to Portland together.
My favorite picture is of your love note to Aki. I'll bet that made his day.
How fun to have an "all by yourself trip" before your baby comes. we all need those once in a while, well more than once in a while would be nice, but that would be asking to much!! And how did you ever hold off reading Eclipse until now?
Holy Canoli! You were only a couple of hours away from us!
:)
Next time...
What about the "saddle" beach pics!?!?!? That was the BEST part!!! LOL.
It was an awesome weekend, Lindy. Thanks for such a great time, man!
p.s. I think the guy to the far left in the cheese sampling pic wasn't too pleased with our taking FIVE of each sample!!! Especially considering the moment when either him or someone else, said, "the lines getting really long back here!!!" LOL.
Great pictures Lindy! It looks like you had an amazing trip. I'm with Sym I love your love letter/picture to Aki.
I totally know what you mean about seeing your kids and loving them only to be ripped right back into reality!
Glad your back safe & sound.
Looks like fun!!! Ame is absolutely adorable!!! (So is Makai) :D
Yes, you deserve a fun trip away before the little guy gets here! Good for you! (I wish I would have done that).
Love the picture of Sofia in the fountain.
Makai totally looks like a Udall in that bottom picture.
